In the late 1990s, a pocket of sharp V-twinned calcites was discovered in China's Leiping Mine. This miniature calcite is a fine example of the quality of crystals found in this pocket. It measures 4 cm across the tips and has the finest clarity, sharpness, and luster.
The only flaw is that the left termination is missing. This is likely due to damage that occurred in the pocket or during handling. However, the break is not fresh and does not detract from the overall beauty of the specimen.
This miniature is a fine reference example of the high quality calcites that were produced in the Leiping Mine. It is a stunning piece that will be a welcome addition to any mineral collection.
